A letter from
the mayor...
Howdy Folks!
This is mayor pro-tem Ron Shirley from Lizard Lick,
North Carolina. Sure, lots of places to visit but none quite like
Lizard Lick. We have our own official Lizard Lick Taxi, a 1978 green
caddy, which is driven by my brother Jason. We have our own Lizard Lick
University where you can learn to stump whup chitlens, peg tobacco, kill
wiregrass, and do some hog hollerin'. You can enjoy our Lizard Lick
Grand Ole Opry where such famous singers as "Buster Lugnut & The
Dipsticks" have performed in front of dozens of people. Sister Sandy
serves the mayors homemade cider that packs more kick than a three
legged mule.
Now I know you are wonderin' if there really is a Lizard
Lick. Well, just ask yourself...Does a one legged duck swim in a
circle? Ask for information on our own Fundermont Airlines, serving
Lizard Lick, Knightdale, Wendell, and Zebulon. Charters to Eagle Rock
are also available. Our motto is "We strive to keep your butts off the
ground". You can also tune in to WLIZ Channel 3 and watch Mayor Wood
southern fry some fresh roadkill. We can also play with the old
stoplight clicker, since we finally got a stoplight that's more than one
color. See how many tickets you can give out for running the red
light.
Lizard Lick offers the best in Southern Hospitality
you'll ever encounter. We have been visited by CNN, Southern Living,
Nintendo, and MTV says they'll be here soon. We've asked the National
Enquirer to pay us a visit but they said none of their readers would
ever believe there is such a place. I wonder if it would make a
difference if they knew Elvis lived here? We heard rumors that he had
passed away on our AM channels, since none of our radios get FM, but he
is here singing every other Saturday night and petting the lizards.
Just remember, always lick your lizard before your lizard licks you.
